Transferring an already registered domain name entails changing the registrar company that handles the registration service, so after the transfer itself, you’ll have to manage things like renewal fees or DNS entry updates through the new registrar. The transfer process itself is standard with most generic and country-code domain extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and involve different steps, but in the general case transferring a domain name involves a few necessary steps and one of them is unlocking the domain. The domain lock is a security option, which is being embraced by more and more domain registry organizations. It’s a standard feature supported by all generic TLDs. If a domain name is locked, it will be impossible to start a transfer process, so no one can even try to register your domain name. The domain lock can be removed only through the account where the domain name is registered and all new domain names that support this feature are locked by default when they are registered.
Registrar Lock in Cloud Hosting
Locking and unlocking a domain registered through us is remarkably easy. This can be done through the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with our Linux cloud hosting, and will take exactly two mouse clicks. All your domain names will be displayed in alphabetical order in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel and next to those whose extensions support the domain lock option, you will see a padlock-like symbol. Click on it once and you’ll notice the present status of the domain. Click for the second time and you will alter its status. The update will propagate immediately without the need for you or for our company to do anything else for the status to be updated on WHOIS lookup sites, so you can proceed with the transfer process right away.
Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you’ve registered a domain through our company and you wish to transfer it, you can easily unlock it via the very same Hepsia Control Panel, which you use to administer your semi-dedicated server account. All domain name registrations will be listed in alphabetical order in your account and you will see a tiny padlock-like icon next to each domain name there, as long as its extension supports the registrar lock feature. You can find out if the domain name is locked or not by clicking on this icon and update the current status by clicking on it once more. You can then continue and initiate the domain transfer right away without having to wait for the status to change on WHOIS lookup websites, as the update will propagate immediately without you or us having to do anything else.
